:: Striking a prayer balance ::
Acts 2:1-4
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that seperated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in tongues as the Holy Spirit enabled them.
God has blessed us with a great privellege and that is to come before Him and pray. You know in Singapore, it is very hard to get the prime minister's number... they will ask you who are you? But Heaven has a 24 hour hotline and you can pray wherever and whenever you want.. God will hear you....
What do you pray for? Necessities? Career? Marriage? Children's education? Healing?
Finance? In different stages of our lives, we pray for different things.
But how long, how much have you spent praying for souls? Praying for others?
Different people have different needs but the common point of a christian's prayer is for souls to be saved!!!
Prayer was so important that Jesus taught His disciples how to pray. See Matthew 5:9.
Imagine the church as a car. To operate the car, won;t we need a key? The key to our church is PRAYER!
Even if you have the biggest or the most beautiful church, without prayer, its useless...
YOU THINK PEOPLE ARE PRAYING?
Luke 22:46 " Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray!"
Prayer can make us successful evangelists...
1). Because of prayer, God's annointing will come upon you.
Before Jesus's cruxifiction, weren't the disciples cowardly and of little faith? But after they prayed, the Holy Spirit enabled them to speak in tongues! and gave them courage to do God's work!
2). Because of prayer, God's heart will become your heart.
Today.. who will think souls are precious? Who will go all out to win souls?
Years ago, a famous evangelist, Hartson Taylor was traveling in a boat. One man fell into the sea. Everyone on the boat looked at the man and stared. No one lifted a finger to help. But hartson, who couldnt swim, went around asking people to save him. But no one wanted to. Hartson took out a 5 dollar bill ( all that he had) and offered it to a man. But the man hassled over the price!!!! 30 dollars!!!!
Today, people don;t see the pricelessness of souls because they do not have God's heart... they dont pray...
Let us pray everyday... that God will empower us with His spirit with His love ... so that we can win souls for His kingdom! Amen.
