:: Something we should learn from the communists ::
An eighteen year-old boy from Russia wrote this letter. In it, he explains his love and devotion to the communist party during the cold war years. It's sad that a young heart can be manipulated and misguided. Yet, the passion he exudes is something that every follower of Christ should long for:
We communists have a high casualty rate. We are the ones that get shot, hung, riducled, fired from our jobs, and made as uncomfortable as possible. We live in virtual poverty. We keep track of every cent we make, and we spend only what is absolutely necessary to keep ourselves alive. We have been described as fanatics. We are fanatics!!! Our lives are dominated by one great overwhelming factor-the struggle of world communism. It is my life, it is my people, my religion, my habit, my sweetheart, my wife, my mistress, my bread, and my meat. I work for it in the daytime, i dream of it at night. I cannot carry a friendship, a love affair, or even a conversation without relating to the force that both guides and drives my life.
This is the kind of passion and purpose that drove the communist ideology from a small band of a few thousand followers of Lenin in the early twentieh century to eventual control over one third of the world's population.
People didnt simply believe in this misguided philisophy- they completely gave themselves over to it.
Lenin once said "Give me a handful of dedicated people and i will take the world
"What about the christians??? Do we have this kind of passion, this kind of desire, this kind of heartbeat?
Genesis 30: 1 "When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children, she became jealous of her sister. so she said to jacob, "give me children, or i will die!"
Let this be our cry to God.
"God, give us spiritual children or we will die!!!"
"God, help us to be obessed with souls!!!"
